Hundredths are special fractions with denominator 10. Working with tenths sets up the foundation for decimal numbers. Each decimal number has a fractional representation with denominator as a power of 10 (10, 100, 1000) etc. Decimals with 2 digits after the decimal point can be represented as a hundredth (fraction with denominator 10). For example, the decimal numbers 0.48 is the same as 48/100.
